I finally fixed the stupid CEL on my car.

Before, I would always get P0441 or P0446, and the evap monitor would never be ready. I thought I would need a TVV (thermal vacuum valve; basically a mechanical version of the VSV's that newer cars have)

BUT, the real issue is that the TVV never opened because it only opens when the engine is over 3000 rpm and the coolant temperature is at least 150F which is impossible most of the time. My driving is mostly city shit, but even on the highway at 65 mph, it still doesn't get to 3000 rpm! Such engine speeds are easily attainable from daily driving in torqueless Civics, but my car happens to have a powerful V6 with a shitload of low-end torque. Therefore, getting to 3k is a challenge.

My solution was to goon streets that have traffic lights and a speed limit of at least 40, and when I got a red light, I would shift the car to L and then keep it in first gear until it was sustaining 3000+ rpm for a few seconds or possibly more than that if no cars were around.

And I'm glad to say that it worked! The evap monitor is ready and the CEL is OFF!

Should have just put a 5-speed in the car instead.

I wish! Sadly, that would cost me more time, money, and talent than I have right now haha

There are tricks to get the drive monitors to click off. It sucks but you can just tool around mashing the throttle and dragging the brakes to help load the motor. But I agree, drive cycles are shit. I had to go through the pain of getting the readiness monitors cleared on my sisters tacoma when we needed to smog it after the replacement of an O2 sensor. It was a pain in the ass and I really don't like the drive cycles. . .
